Philanthropy Initiatives

The Law Review is proud to support numerous public interest pro bono intitiatives at Penn Law. Every year, the Law Review partners with the Toll Public Interest Center (TPIC) and various student-led groups to enhance the outreach and pro bono work of the Penn Law community.

The Law Review Pro Bono Travel Fund

The Law Review Pro Bono Travel Fund was created in partnership with TPIC to support individual service travel and group service travel throughout the greater Philadelphia area; so that students can engage in in pro bono service without undue financial burden. This initiative has helped numerous Penn Law students to travel to pro bono project sites to provide valuable legal services to those in need. This fund was especially created to support students who travel to destination which are more difficult to reach. Since its creation in 2018, the fund has helped numerous students to travel in support of:

  • Guild Food Stamp Clinic
  • Custody & Support Clinic
  • If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice
  • Immigrant Rights Project
  • Youth Education Project
  • Youth Advocacy Project

Equal Justice Foundation

The Law Review has long partnered with the Equal Justice Foundation (EJF), a student-run organization at Penn Law which provides funding for students pursuing public interest work. For years, the Law Review has supported EJF as a Gold Sponsor of their annual auction. All proceeds of the auction go towards summer grants, bar grants, post-graduate fellowships and other means of support for Penn Law public interest students.

Penn Law Light Opera Company

The Law Review is proud to partner with the Light Opera Company every year to help to make their annual performance a success. Beyond Law Review financial support of the Light Opera’s production, Law Review makes a charitable donation on behalf of the Light Opera a public interest organization connected to the theme of that year’s show.

  • 2019: The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee; $500 grant for the Education Law Center, which works to support access to quality education for the children of Pennsylvania.
  • 2018: La Cage aux Folles; $500 grant for the Attic Youth Center, which works to promote opportunities for LGBTQ youth.
